How to transfer data from one sql server to another sql server 7.0

Dear All
i have small data to transfer, let me explain it,
I have to transfer some small data from head office (sql server) to a branch
office (sql server)
the main objective is that the task should be automated via front end
developed in VB 6.0
The user at head office just choose option from front end to transfer data
and the user at branch office just select option to receive data, the
remainin task should be performed at the back end.
I just want to know the best technique to transfer the data, i have built
same type of solution using foxpro by sending data in text file. as i have
some ideas in my mind that data can be transfered via text file, via access
mdb file etc. etc., but what is the best technique.
please help if u can

hsbilal@.gmail.comHi Abdul,
I feel the best option for you will be using Data Transformation Servics.
DTS not only helps to transfer data, it also helps to transform data. You
will be able to invoke the DTS package from your Visual Basic Program using
the COM interface provided by DTS.
Thanks & Regards

I can use the DTS but how i will pass certain paramaters to dts package, as
i have to get the data based on certain paramaters.
Anyway i found another solution, please let me know will it be appropriate.
To Export data:
I will make a stored procedures which will accept certain paramaters, this
proce will create a linked server (access mdb)
then it will get data from sql server and update the mdb file, and at the
end the linked server will be destory, i will call this procedure form my vb
app with paramaters.
To Import data:
i will make a same stored procedure with reverse technique i.e. reading data
from mdb file and update sql server data
Kindly give ur comments.

You can create a DTS package, and even save it as a BAS file and include it
in your project, or simply call it using the object model... You can set
global variables and pass in your parameters that way.

I wonder if creating the access database isn't overkill... you could simply
use DTS to bcp out the files. or better simply leave the data in the source
database and when the user wishes to import, move the data directly from the
source database to the destination database.

how to trace the file activity???

Dear all,
It urgent, can anyone please tell me how to race
the activity which the user have done to the file. e.g.
When the user delete a record from the file, when the
user edit a record from the file and when the user add a
new record to a file from the EM.Please, help.. Thanks.
Regards
Sharon
.There are several ways. One is to add a trigger to every table you wish to
audit that keeps track of all this activity. Of coarse this doesn't help
for any activity that already happened. Another much easier way is to use a
3rd party product such as Log Explorer from www.lumigent.com to look at the
log files and see the history. Of coarse if you have already truncated the
logs you may not have the information.

How to trace sp_addlogin

Dear all,
I have been trying to use SQL Profiler to trace login
creation. Can someone tell me how do I get the login names
that were created? Trace did not display the detail info
of sp_addlogin.
Thanks,
Joe
You can't get it from Profiler. If it sees password in the text it won't
display it.

|||Try using sp_trace_setevent and use event number 104 Audit Add/Drop Login
"Occurs when a SQL Server Login is added or removed; for sp_addlogin and
sp_droplogin. Also check out Microsoft article "SQL Server 2000 Auditing".
It details how to use Profiler to audit SQL Server.

See GroupBY and DatePart in BOL. Also you may have better luck with this if
you posted in the Programming section.

How to store very large document data?

Dear all,

I am facing a problem while storing Very large document data to a single image field in SQL Server 2000. It takes very much time for documents in size upto 10 MB. And its not possible to store data more than 10 MB. If I try it gives "Connection Write (Wrapper Write())" message with state 01000 and native 4.

I have used SQLPutData and SQLParamData for this purpose.

Is there any efficient way to do this? My concern is for less time.

Thanks in advance,
AvneeshI need urgent help regarding above problem. Would somebody please send some suggestions ASAP.

Thanks in advnace,
Avneesh
